Devin Hester, a Hall of Famer?

Have to believe he gets in eventually. Too exciting a player to ignore.

I saw and heard his interview with Deon Sanders after last night's game. He definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. As a man of Special Needs he is an example to all of where hard work and perseverance can lead for a mentally challenged person.

There are radio guys in Chicago who would defend him pretty vigorously on this. They claim he's just shy and not actually stupid.

I saw the interview too. He has a future as a broadcaster. You just can't beat
a Hurricane education.

Deon was really unhinged to the point of uncomfortable for viewers.

Say what you will about Devin Hester. He's never made headlines for:

- Beating his wife.
- Beating his kids.
- Beating his dog.
- Shooting a gun.
- Illegally owning a gun.
- Drunk driving.
- Drunk anything.
- PEDs.
- Pot.
- Drugs of any sort.
- 10 kids by 12 women.

Is he a candidate for MENSA? Probably not. But I'll take him.

When it's time for his name to brought up and we look at the potential HOF'ers he will be up against we will laugh that this was ever discussed.

If I needed any further convincing, I got it last night.

I'd like to see how the Falcons continue to use him. That'll be one of the more interesting stories to follow, for me, this season. Growing up watching Lou Holtz's Notre Dame teams in the late '80s and early '90s, I remember him doing whatever he could to get the ball into the hands of Tim Brown and Rocket Ismail. They returned kicks. They lined up at every receiver position. They lined up in the backfield. They ran reverses. Whatever it took. The Bears always wanted to turn Hester into a run-of-the-mill NFL wide receiver.

When we have idiots like Peter King campaigning for Steve Tasker, Hester would seem like a sure first ballot entry.

Agreed. I get the argument that if you're the best at anything in the history of the game, you should be in, but there's a big difference between returning 20 punts/kicks for touchdowns and simply being a great special teams player.

I would vote for Hester over Vinatieri (sp?).

So many returners hit the wall at some point in their careers. Dante Hall had a great 3-year run and then didn't do much after that.

Hester is in his 30s and you would have a hard time convincing me there is a single guy in the league who could have caught him on that return.
