Maybe it's just me, but the comma placement lends itself to multiple interpretations of the sentence. Which I think is funny.

By the way, the Sterling-Smallwood-Fidel deal is supposed to have been a big influence on the guy who made Roger and Me and whose name escapes me at this moment.
