Ex-LAPD cop goes to war against colleagues

I don't know that you can say Cooper was sympathetic to Dorner, after calling him a "monster" and letting law-enforcement experts dump all over him for hours Tuesday night.

(Dorner deserved everything said about him, but the coverage certainly wasn't sympathetic to him.)

The closest I've seen to a reasonable "conspiracy" is that law-enforcement said that Dorner's wallet and ID was found near San Diego, yet he was ID'd by his driver's license after the fire. I suspect that was just a misunderstanding somewhere.

There are two issues here, and they need to be kept separate.
On the one hand, we have his allegations of mistreatment. And then there is murder.
Many people have considerable cause for indignation over mistreatment, racism, etc., but what keeps ours a (generally) orderly society is that they express their outrage through non-violent means such as the written word and/or litigation rather than killing. When they breach the public trust and delve into violence, they abdicate the right to justify their actions.

In terms of journalism, going to the Man on the Street and seeking comment is lame, lazy and borderline irresponsible if not kept in proper context.

Dorner deserves no sympathy and I feel horrible for the families of those murdered. I think people have a hard time summoning sympathy for LAPD as a whole, however.

On the bright side, I guess, they did appear to learn lessons. They didn't burn down seven cabins full of innocent bystanders because they looked vaguely like the cabin their guy was hiding in.

We have a cop who chose murder-suicide by cop. Clearly a disturbed person who had no business being a police officer in the first place. There may have been murderers who deserve sympathy somewhere at some time, but he's not one.
We also have obvious evidence of serious dysfunction in the LAPD and other Southern California police departments. Shooting innocent civilians by mistake ought to be an immediate firing offense.

I"m sure it won't be long before certain people are saying the cops he killed got what they deserved.

Pretty sure they already are. Look at all the FB groups and pages that popped up supporting this guy.

Can you imagine if the latina newspaper carriers shot in their truck were black? Or the white surfer rammed in his truck the same morning was black? There would be a nonstop shirtstorm going on.

These incidents confirm my suspicions that the LAPD and surrounding forces aren't racist, but they are incredibly incompetent.

btw, the shootings of the latinas and white guy has gotten just about no coverage here in LA, and little outrage.

Bet someone writes a song about this too. Something really fitting and direct which explains the struggles of minorities when confronted with the Los Angeles Police Department. Call it something like, "fork the Police."

What's that? They did that already? Twenty years ago? Oh...

Well, that's one less angry black man carrying a gun roaming the streets looking for targets.

I'll drink to that!

I would have thought the conditions of your parole would have prevented you from drinking alcohol.

Thats because the whites and latinas are working and can't afford to take the day off to riot, unlike their black brothers and sisters who can just roll out of bed at around 3 pm, head on over to the liquor store, and riot their mutha-fuqing heads off.
