Hi everyone. For those wondering why there's no 1968 Carlos/Smith Black power photo, it's because we featured it in a previous Saturday magazine photo special about the protests photos which changed the world which you can see here.>>

I don't know why, though. Is there a policy that can't have the same pic in multiple photo countdowns?
 
If you asked me to guess what state the "football game in front of burning building" photo was taken in, I would have needed 40-plus guesses to arrive at the right answer.
It's now Northfield-Mt. Hermon, in way rural Mashachusetts. Beautiful campus, prettier than many colleges. I had some friends who went there and visited campus once.

Either Pafko at the wall or Branca in the locker room after Game 3 of the 1951 NL playoffs should have been included, but that list was obviously very Eurocentric, being from the Guardian.
 
Worth remembering on these photo threads how much harder it was in the old days to make a great sports photo, especially indoors.
