He got the spirit of the thing: RIP M. Emmet Walsh

Roger Ebert once observed that "no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad."

Always thought the SAG Awards should give an honorary award to working actors like Walsh and others who just keep showing up. Instead they gave a lifetime achievement award to Barbara Streisand. Like she needs another one.

Die! Gas Pumper!!!

He hates those cans, he hates those cans!

Always held him in such high regard, I'd seem him in some things and wonder - what is he doing in this piece of crap?

Asked about his appearance in such films, Michael Caine famously said, "I've made an awful lot of films, and a lot of awful films. I have never seen Jaws: The Revenge, but I have seen the house that it built, and it's terrific."

One of my all-time favorite quotes. Wasn't he making that when he won the Oscar for "Hannah & Her Sisters" and thus wasn't present to accept the award?

I must admit that when Walsh showed up in Gemstones, I was shocked as I assumed he was no longer with us.

I loved him Calvary, which came out about 10 (!) years ago.

He was also excellent in Clean and Sober as Michael Keaton's sponsor.
