"I've reached that age when..."

I think when people stopped dressing respectably for air travel, that's when all was lost in attire. Probably an old man rant but that's why we're here.

I'm guessin' that was the time of deregulation when all of a sudden everybody could afford a trip to Vegas.

I work from home, about 10 hours a day at my desk. To help break up the monotony, I have a flat screen mounted on the wall to my left, like a side window.
Usually I have a YT channel called New England Webcams streaming (there's a little train that goes to the top of Mt. Washington that is a new entry to my bucket list) but lately I've been watching a stream called Neon Drives which is a dash cam as a car drives long distances. It's fascinating. Yesterday I started my morning in Florence and ended the day in Rome. My favorite is a drive I have taken at least 30 times IRL, Albuquerque to LA.
I'll spend hours watching train rides. The long-distance Amtrak trains out west are nice.

I went karaoke singing with a group from work the other night. We're all over 30, singing 80s and 90s stuff and then a younger crowd rolls in and these young women are singing songs like "Casual." And the lyrics are right there for everyone to see and my eyes just about popped out of my head. Reminded me of this recent video.

I just read the lyrics to that, and holy shirt, that's NC17 territory.

And of course, that song is my 12-year old daughter's favorite song.
Last month when we at a gymnastics meet "Hot To Go" dropped and my 13-year-old started belting it out and moving like she was playing Dance Dance Revolution with lives at stake.

Me: "So should I just assume this song is about takeout food?"
Her (slightly panicked): "Uh huh."

I left it at some side eye.

The other song she's into is Bed Chem by Sabrina Carpenter. Yeah, it's basically "Dear Penthouse Forum" in verse. I tell her to change the station, especially when we're carpooling with the neighbor's kid to school.

That train ride is nice, went a few years ago. Stayed a few towns away in Conway at a hotel that kind of looked like The Stanley Hotel.
the wind is crazy on Mt Washington. IIRC it was about 80 degress and sunny that day, but at the top it was cool.

When I was your daughter's age there were hits like:

Tonight's the Night
Afternoon Delight
Lay Down Sally
Walk in the Wild Side
A lot of girls misplaced their virginity to that first song, which is probably how long he lasted. If that.
