Interns saying dumb things...

As I'm sitting in the office today, I can hear a phone conversation one of the news interns is having with a friend. Classic line:

"It's total bullshirt that I have to do obits today. They just aren't recognizing my talent here."

He's been talking shirt about the rest of his intern class, too. I'm going to love sitting near this guy.

We are blessed with a truly great intern.
And if he's reading this: Get the fork offline and get back to work. I didn't leave the office so YOU could fork off!

Seriously, kid could not work harder. We just pile shirt on him to see how much he'll take.

Notz' intern is the one who posts all the "hot young effin' studs who should be working major beat nows and be in pro teams' front offices by 25 threads."

We're giving him some very good assignments. Along with some shirt work. Along with whatever else we can think of *** shirt, I just thought of something else I meant to dump on him before I left. Thank gosh for e-mail.

The intern at my place is kick ass. He's helping me out with some stuff this week.

Awesome.

Make it half a case (Blue Moon) and I'll send him along later. Have to beat some more work out of him first!

Dude led our section three days running a week or two ago. We've thrown him into anything we need covered and he hasn't flinched.

I remember how p*ssed I was as an intern to have to type piles of bowling scores...lo and behold, I typed bowling scores at my first three full-time newspapers, including a bureau of a top-20 circ. daily. The difference: as a full-timer I learned just to type them a ... bit ... more ... slowly :)

At one paper (some time ago), all four interns were female. Their day consisted of writing files about guys in the office (this was before e-mail; hi, spnited), then sending them to the garbage file without erasing the text. Thus, they could be read by others.

I think one of them ended up marrying someone in the newsroom.
