Funny movie - but anyone else feel the revelation that Del was a widower, which made his antics seem more like a coping mechanism to mask his pain, kind of make you feel bad? Like you were laughing at a man in obvious pain. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.



Doesn't this speak to the greatness of this movie?

That's exactly the emotional arc Steve Martin's character takes, and you, the viewer, experience it too.
