Not defending LIV but it's Singapore at 2 a.m. ET. Comparing that to TPC on a weekend afternoon is no comparison.

The first real test will be in two weeks when LIV is playing the Blue Monster and the PGA Tour is in San Antonio with a very mediocre field (Rory said he would play one Texas event and committed to Houston today). Of course LIV won't beat the PGA Tour, but it won't be thumped by a multiple of 100.

I bet a fair amount of people put the eagle cam on as background during sleeping. Beats most reruns.

I'm a few episodes in, haven't been motivated to rip through the rest. The access to the big guys isn't as good and what is there feels very canned. Rory filing for divorce was screaming for more, especially with Amanda Balionis being on the show, but was largely glossed over. I'm also a bit over Dan Rapaport.

Guessing Full Swing will get a fourth season in a Ryder Cup year, but unless the captains let cameras in the team room I don't know how much magic it can have.

I'm four episodes in. One seemed to spend a lot more time than necessary on the Zurich Clashic, even if Rory and Lowry won.

Why does NBC go out of its way to patronize all pros but the top stars they endlessly fellate? Spaun didn't have it today, and in a pat on his head voice one announcer, I forget which, said, "I'm sure he'll take something away from this that'll be a big help in the future." He was right in one sense. Second prize at the Players was 2.725 million, a help to anyone. Anybody on the Tour is a wonderful player, the top 0.001 percent of golfers. But it's like only the top 0.0001 percent matter to the commentariat.

I don't know. Why did NASCAR TV partners fawn all over Dale Sr. And Jr., and Gordon, Stewart, etc. NBA with Jordan and LeBron. NFL with Brady, Manning and Mahomes. MLB with Shohei now. The stars are glorified on TV. It has always been thus.

This is true, but not to the extent golf does it. It's not just the fawning over the big names, it's the condescending tone taken to the lesser known competitors. They sounded as if Spaun was one step removed from the Special Olympics, rather than a guy who as of now would be an automatic qualifier for the Ryder Cup team.

It's the voices announcing that makes it sound so condescending. Think of the target audience, it's not the same as the NFL. Madden saying the same thing sounds much different than Nantz. That's why I loved Johnny Miller, he wasn't so accommodating.

They thought (?) Kisner would be "tough" but he's just another fluffer voice.
