Francisco Lindor will get MVP votes. Not to win it, but he'll be on several people's ballots.

Good point. He is clearly no better than fourth behind Betts, Martinez and Ramirez, but still good enough that it answers my question. Ramirez has a teammate who isn't far behind Martinez and Betts after all.

You go to 10 on the ballot, so right now I would bet that the group will be, in some order, Betts, Martinez, Ramirez, Lindor, Trout, Altuve or Bregman, Stanton or Judge, Matt Chapman, Davis, random guy based on voter preference: Segura, Diaz if he sets the save record, Andujar, Benintendi, Brantley, Lowrie etc.

Who's the NL MVP?

Seems like Nolan Arenado, Matt Carpenter, Freddie Freeman, Javy Baez, Paul Goldschmidt and Christian Yelich. I would go with Arenado for the combination of offensive production and defensive excellence, but it's tough to separate the group so far. Carpenter and Goldschmidt both started out terrible and they are finishing strong, so maybe their current pace helps them push ahead. Any of those guys could pull away with a big September.

All three of the top NL Cy Young contenders, including Aaron Nola out-dueling Max Scherzer in the Phillies' 2-0 win over the Nationals. Nola struck out nine in eight shutout innings to drop his ERA to 2.13. Scherzer is also at 2.13 after giving up two runs in seven innings.

Jacob deGrom did what he does, which is pitch well and lose as often as he wins. He has a 1.71 ERA to go with an 8-8 record. I know wins don't mean much, but with the years Nola and Scherzer are having, could the lousy record might cost deGrom the Cy Young?

It better not.

I thought ERA didn't mean anything anymore, either?
