Tampa Bay Rays withdraw from planned $1.3 billion ballpark in St. Petersburg

Would a meaningful number of TB-St. Pete residents really miss the Rays? This feels a lot more like the Browns or Senators leaving their cities than the Dodgers bailing on Brooklyn or the Expos leaving Montreal.

Is it at all possible to renovate/ enlarge Steinbrenner Field? Tampa gives them better logistics, makes it more likely Tampa residents will go to a game and is accessible to Orlando.
