NBA 2012: Running thread

Does anyone know what Wojnarowski is referring to here?

"They don't forget how one of Stern's top public-relations officials went out of her way to try to dissuade an NBA team owner from hiring a well-regarded Spurs executive as general manager. And they don't forget that once that executive got the job, she went out of her way to try to undermine his operation."

Am curious.

What I find most interesting is that the NBA running thread started in October and Swiss Legalized prostitution thread started yesterday have the same amount of pages.

Aside from the whole Stern-Spurs thing and the Lakers' drama, what else is there to get excited about in an NBA regular season?

This is an awesome job of ripping another hole in David Stern's rectum.

Someone really needs to sit that smug SOB down and remind him that HE did not create what the NBA is now; Larry, Magic and Michael did. It was those guys who got the NBA Finals off of tape delay on CBS, not his forking brilliance.

Good luck convincing an agenda-obsessed megaegomaniac like Stern of this. And an excellent piece by Woj.

Kobe just joined the 30,000-point club.

Kareem. Malone. Jordan. Wilt. Kobe.

In non-Spur news, Rubio's back at practice with Wolves. Hopefully return in week or two.

I'll enjoy watching this more than Luke Ridnour:

Word is Friday's game against Cleveland is a long shot but Rubio's getting close. Now, if the Wolves could make some free throws.

Love especially. Christ. I guess you can blame the hand but his FTs are really bad right now.

Speaking of, interesting piece on LeBron's free throws, being his one remaining weakness.

His FT shooting has always been weak compared to most of the perimeter greats in NBA history but it's below 65 percent this year.

And Dr. J. If you count ABA stats, which I do.

I never knew that, but the Dr. is not in the same league of Kareem, Wilt and Kobe. Neither is the Mailman.

Dr. J is certainly in the same league as Kobe. Dr J has a better career FG%, the style of play, even in the ABA, didn't call for as many 3 pointers as today. Their career ppg avg is seperated by less than 1.5 points per game. DrJ has more defensive rebounds than Kobe has total rebounds, over 5000 more rebounds in a career that been about as long. Kobe has a slight edge in assists. DrJ was a better defensive player and not just because he has 25% more steals and 3 times more blocked shots.

Kobe has a signficant advantage in quality teammates over his career.

Whatever league Kobe is in, Dr. J is playing in it too.

The dunk on Michael Cooper is legendary, but this one might have been better. White dude tried going up to block this shirt.
