New editor at Philly Inquirer

It's worse than unseemly. The jerk is obviously mouthing what the King of the Assholes wants to hear.

You're right Ben. A guy who lost his job in Baltimore for standing up to management and saying he wouldn't cut staff is now telling the Inq that he'd be happy to volunteer and be the butcher.

You could not be more wrong here.

I say cut out the international coverage all together. Nothing important happening beyond our borders.

Yup. Pulling kittens out of trees = more important than Iraq/Iran stuff.

If this holds true for sports, man, I'd had to be the NBA writer, watch the 76ers miss the playoffs, and then have to cover some stupid bullshirt that's not going to help me on the beat.

Not sure what's wrong. What Ben says seems pretty much as reported.

As to letter, this stuff happens all the time. My publisher had a thick file of letters from people wanting my job. He thought it was pretty funny and showed it to me once just before I was off to ASNE: "If you run across any of these people, tell them hello for me."
