I had two huge deadlines this week that seemed like they were going off the rails.
We salvaged one, and are on the brink of salvaging the other, which means I think I'll participate in the draft live and drunk.
If we can't wrap up this project today as intended, I might be on auto draft tomorrow.

I have salvaged the second project deadline, but it requires that I cancel my day off and work tomorrow. I am not a good bureaucrat; very few people in my job would do it.
So I'm getting drunk tonight, going to work in the morning hungover and stinking, taking a break to draft and then finishing the project.
After 15-plus years in journalism, it is hard to break the newsroom work ethic - whatever it takes. I feel unique among bureaucrats.
I will draft live. I will not get drunk in the morning (which at my age gives me a perverse thrill). I will, at least, be hungover and miserable.

It's the most flabbergasting, nonsensical season ever. The Orioles are in the playoff hunt, and Buck's team is in first place in late August. The Mayans were on to something.
