Or . . . 2020 was just an outlier.

Feel free to replace "82 bleeping years old" with "black woman".
Perhaps there should be an effort to determine why voter turnout spiked and find a way to not only ensure that is the new norm, but to reach even more eligible voters.

Or I guess we could shrug our shoulders and just accept significant decline in turnout.

".....come on down Mr. Jackson...." How soon can we get him to higher office?

Well, about that ...

If Roy Cooper decides not to run for senate in 2026, then I think Jackson is the likely candidate. But I expect Cooper will run.

Otherwise, he's probably AG until 2032 when he'd be the Dem candidate for governor.

Sad thing is, I firmly believe he would already be in the Senate if Chuck Schumer and the DSCC had stayed out of the 2022 primary. Jackson was mounting a strong grassroots primary campaign when Schumer threatened to withhold support unless he dropped out with a promise of future support. The establishment choice, Cheri Beasley, ended up losing the general.

Debate was not going to change the vote. Frankly IMHO these latent nationalist views are baked in and those voters were never going to give them up. At least that's what a minority is conditioned to think and to surmise.
Short of Harris cutting personal checks for every single American with her name emblazoned on them and single-handedly raising wages, I'm pretty certain the Democrats were forked regardless of the candidate.

Guessing "We all might die from a virus and sociopath Granddad is utterly clueless," was a big motivation. Plus an assist from the lingering effects of George Floyd and the massive protests that followed.

None of those facts are less true now, but America's collective memory is the monkey banging cymbals inside Homer Simpson's head.

It's probably been said already, but WTF is wrong with the Dem non-voters? The stakes were even greater this time – FAR greater – and they didn't even need Biden's 81M votes. 75M would have been just fine, with plenty left over for a nice margin of victory. It was RIGHT THERE for them.

But they forked up by not showing up. GOTV? Hah. GFY instead, which they certainly did. This loss hangs heavy on them, and maybe for decades to come. So fork all the Dem non-voters. They choked away a crucial victory – for our country, for our women and children, and for the world at large.

Got up this morning and contemplated whether or not I can get my tubes tied before January. That's much preferable to the idea that any complications in a potential pregnancy and my state would be a-ok with me dying in a parking lot.
