Questions about Radomski's affidavit

Why was the FBI undercover "source" from San Jose repeatedly buying Sustanon testosterone (a blend of
several testosterone esters) and Deca-Durabolin (nandrolone) from Kirk Radomski? It's not likely that a
baseball player would buy either of these two types of anabolic steroids. Sustanon contains a blend of four different species of testosterone including cypionate and enanthate, which are two of the longest lasting esters. These forms of testosterone are avoided by players because they will keep the T/E ratio elevated for longer than other types , such as testosterone suspension (water based), and their use can trigger a positive T/E ratio test for a longer period of time. Nandrolone is the longest lasting steroid known to man and any baseball player using steroids would know this fact. Baseball players who use steroids certainly know to avoid Sustanon as well as nandrolone. It's been reported that Radomski was a major drug source for professional baseball players. So, why was Radomski routinely selling two types of steroids known to be avoided by baseball players? These steroids are routinely used by bodybuilders, not baseball players.

Below is an excerpt for the AP article today by Paul Elias.

"In a 2005 court filing asking a judge to approve a warrant to search Radomski's house, investigators said a San Jose-based informant who claimed to have a MLB connection made five steroid buys from Radomski. Investigators also recorded numerous telephone calls between the informant and Radomski discussing steroids and baseball players."

Once again, Sustanon (a blend of testosterone esters) and Deca-Durabolin (nandrolone), the two steroids allegedly purchased from Radomski by the FBI informant in the case, are not used by baseball players. Nandrolone could not be used by a player even in the off-season because of the very long clearance time. It takes a minimum of six months and up to as long as eighteen months for nandrolone to become undetectable. No baseball player would ever take that chance.

Baseball didn't even test for steroids in the time period in question (1995-2005 ... they might have started at the end), so I don't think detectability was ever an issue. In fact, these steroids' heightened potency probably made them more attractive.
