RIP Dwight Twilley

"I'm on Fire" is an underrated classic from the 1970s. RIP.

EDIT: Thanks for the YouTube link, Slacker … was having trouble doing that on my phone. [/luddite]

This is the only song I remember from Dwight Twilley (a duet with Tom Petty).

The video is typical 1984 cheese but I do like the song. (I don't think I've heard this song since then, actually.)

Holy shirt. I came here because I vaguely remembered the name from sometime way back in my childhood or adolescence and I was curious whether it was an athlete, a singer or an actor. And it was that video. I actually remember it and it's been 40 years since I saw it or thought about it. That's like half my father's life. RIP.

Dwight Twilley ... power pop legend.

I heard "I'm On Fire" in the Charleston, S.C. airport after getting off of a plane, a pleasant surprise. It was a great way to sashay through the terminal.

Yeah, same with me. I was child of the MTV Generation and that was my main source of discovering artists. Twilley came out with "Girls," in 1984 and that video was in heavy rotation for a month or two. It was a good song, but the video came off as a third-rate "Porky's" rip-off. He fell back off the radar after that, but from what I heard, he was a talented guy. RIP.

I know he died a while back, but I heard this recently and it's been in my head. Part of why he's lauded in the power pop community.
