Running 2017 MLB regular season thread

My great regret was while I was in a ballpark. My friend shoved his phone in my face while an unassisted triple play happened.

"What just happened? What'd we miss?" he asked me.

"SOMETHING THAT'S ONLY HAPPENED LIKE SEVEN TIMES IN HUMAN HISTORY YOU TURD SHRAPNEL!"
I can match that. Way back in the '90s I was at Fenway to do the early edition column for a Sox-Twins game. Did it and stuck around to watch the first few innings. Bottom of the fourth or so, Twins turn a triple play. So I figure I've seen what this game had to offer and left for home. Was listening on the radio when the Twins then later turned another triple play, ONLY time in baseball history that'd happened.

Carlos Correa out 6-8 weeks with a torn thumb ligament.

The Astros are 15 1/2 up, they'll survive it. My fantasy team may not. fork.

That is brutal. The Astros have tremendous firepower and should be just fine.

Guy in my keeper league has Trout, Correa and Freeman. Finally gets Trout back and then this. Ouch.

Tigers trade J.D. Martinez to the Diamondbacks for three prospects. Arizona's strong lineup gets a big boost with a right-handed power bat who fits nicely into the lineup. I believe Martinez will be a free agent after the season and I don't know much about the prospects, but this seems like a great fit for Arizona.

Rumor has Frazier, Robertson and Kahnle to Yanks for unknown prospects....White Sox trying for bidding war?

I have JD Martinez, too. Lots of news for my team today.

Anyway, carry on.

Angels-Nationals, billed as the rare Trout-Harper matchup, following script so far: Harper homers in the first for Washington, Trout homers to tie it in the bottom of the inning for LAA.
