Running 2025 golf thread

So Nantz now calls 1, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 18, all off a monitor in the Butler Cabin. He stopped going to the tower on 18 a few years ago.

I think he also calls 5.

Golfweek reported Nobilo will call 2, 7, 11 and 16, and Nantz will call 12. Uncle Verne used to do the par-3 6th so don't know who's taking over that one. Maybe they give some more holes for Catalon to call.

I've been watching old Masters on YouTube. I had completely forgotten the one-year presence of Ken Squier, voice of NASCAR on radio and then CBS, on the 14th hole. He was fine.

Not sure why someone else would call the 6th. The tower there is right between the 16th and 6th greens.

14 has almost always been where the announcer with the least airtime is put. Bill Macatee was there for many years (I think he did one hole on the front 9), then would scramble up to do post-round interviews until they added Amanda Balionis. Catalon has been there the past few years.

Yeah, found that odd as well, but they aren't replacing Uncle Verne with a new person, just adding more for the others, but the breakdown of who is doing each hole hasn't been announced other than going by what Nantz has done in the past and the announcement of Nobilo yesterday.

There used to be one at the Fripp Island (SC) course that looked like that. Went viral about 15 years ago. heck, maybe it's the same one, it just moved along the coast.

CBS hasn't been the same since they dumped Kostis and McCord.
Don't get me wrong. It's still light years ahead of Hicks and that mess on NBC. And Pepper, Finchy, Nobilo are very very good…….If I had my way, I'd let McCord and Clampett have a sit down with the green coats and get them back on the telecast. Although, I don't think McCord would or even wants to go back to Augusta. IIRC, Clampett is still on site with their On The Range stuff.

Agree, but after McCord got banned and he was still at CBS, he put it in his contract that he would not work the Masters so there was no pressure from Tiffany executives to try to get him back. That's not happening.

Clampett I think did one or two years with On The Range but in the CBS release for this year, he's not listed, even on the streaming stuff.

And I went back piecemeal through last year's final round broadcast. I had forgotten they finally allowed Pepper to walk on the course. That used to be a big no-no. She might have done it the past couple of years. Heck, I don't think they still allow media to walk inside the ropes.

Anyway, Nantz called six holes last year so now he'll be adding a seventh if he keeps the same as last year as he's picking up No. 12. And there will be some other movement with Uncle Verne gone and no one new added to replace him.
