Running 2025 golf thread

Truthfully……I've been waiting for Rory to make a caddy change for a couple of years.

Joe Tessitore doesn't understand this comment and also WHY AREN'T YOU EXCITED ABOUT THAT ROUTINE FIRST DOWN MIDWAY THROUGH THE FIRST QUARTER!!!!!
This latest generation of broadcasters -- Tess, Gus, etc. -- feel the need to yell and its annoying. What it really showcases is a lot of them don't have strong voices, or don't believe that they do. Bob Costas, Pat Summerall, Vin Scully and Keith Jackson never needed to scream. Al Michaels screamed one time and it took the biggest upset in history.

Does any other country obsess over announcers the way we, apparently, do? It seems odd to me because I generally don't care and it doesn't affect my viewing. One exception is Vitale. I tired of him years and years ago and can't watch a game he's working. Other than that, I don't care.
Formula One fans often take Sky racecaller (the de facto world English language voice) to task for getting overexcited. But he's less likely to do so that his predecessor on BBC and ITV, Murray Walker.

Fox is doing the LIV tournament at Doral this weekend and Brian Kilmeade is there for Fox & Friends
The LIV reminds me of the days when they had the big ice shows where the Olympic medalists would skate after their amateur careers were done
Winning a LIV tournament is about as meaningful. Perfect for a Trumpland event

As a non-golfer i need to ask if any of you you have ever taken "insect relief"

Man, I was pissed about this ruling but also watching with no sound. Context helps. Dangerous animal condition is 100 a relief option and this fits the bill. Happened in our Amateur championship a couple of years ago. Fire ants, snakes, alligators, etc

Not sure about PGA rules, but I've golfed with people who have nailed the side of a Canada goose (my wife) and a tree with a redwing blackbird nest (me). In both cases we left those balls behind and dropped one away from the angry birds!

"PGA rules" are governed by the Rules of Golf as in they are the same for everyone, PGA players, amateurs, blood-money LIV players, etc.

My Cape course is a stopover for Canada geese in both the spring and early fall. The greenskeeper's two golden retrievers do their best to chase 'em off, but not much luck. It is an informal but universally used club rule that you get a free drop from goose shirt or if said shirt affects your stance. The USGA can sue us if they don't like it.
