Running Oscar Broadcast Thread

Thoughts

-I would have like acting snippets of each nominee as long as the speeches the actors gave them.

- Ken skit was fine. I'm tired of all the musical numbers, though.

-The forkin performance dance/symphony thing over the In Memoriam is one of the single stupidest things in the history of the telecast. You think viewers at home want to watch that?

-I feel for Lily Gladstone, who should have won that Oscar but was in, quite frankly, a pretty average movie. All of Scorsese's movies are about him, which is why only Cate Blanchett (as Hepburn!) has won an acting Oscar in one his movies over the last 30 years.

-Next year, have Emma Stone walk out there and announce Best Picture. She'll actually attempt to set up the award and read it with proper emphasis. There have been enough confusing snafus with the older actors.

Watching Forrest Whitaker and Nicholas Cage among the Best Actor presenters reminds me that with Sean Penn, there were three future Best Actor winners in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

As the older guy, the speeches were really good.

The guy from 20 Days in Marispol (sp) nailed it. "Wish I didn't have to make this movie; Films make memories, memories make history"

Oppenheimer is the first Best Picture winner I've actually seen since 2006's The Departed.

It would be fun to have this show "announced" like a sports broadcast, "yeah, speech was a little long there, you hate to see someone played off by the band, but that speech was going nowhere."
"Jimmy, pretty solid opener, then it kind of fell apart in the second hour, how do you bring it home before the Best Picture award?
"The energy in this room has just evaporated with that last category, I don't know how they get it back."

Also, I should have gone on Facebook and addressed all those who mock people interested in sports, particularly the Super Bowl and told them movies are dumb, the actors overpaid and they should spend their time reading books instead of sitting inside a movie theater. The books are ALWAYS better.
Side note - I really NEED to see American Fiction.

Keeping the sports theme, I'd love to see them release the voting results after the show.

How many votes did Oppenheimer win by? What was the margin between Emma Stone and the presumed favorite Lily Gladstone? Did the art house films that nobody saw get many votes?

And the best actor/actress awards, when their peers would come out and say a few words about each nominee before announcing the winner? I wanted to scream "orange slices for everybody!"
