First off, I now officially have a crush on Sarah Paulson. I'm talking a "Fenian/IJAG-at-the-Gyllenhaal-family-reunion" crush.

Join us, PDB.

I'm not seeing it.

Cute, sure.

But not remotely stirring wood.

Is she Elizabeth Perkins' little sister?

Well, yeah, I thought a young Elizabeth Perkins was pretty darn hot, too.

It's the type of hotness that you either get or you don't. My thing isn't exotic-looking, sharp-featured faces. It's clean-looking, wide-eyed faces.

To clarify: Some people thought a young Anjelica Houston was gorgeous. I didn't get it.

If you thought that about Huston, you have a problem.

The CBS Monday schedule has become what NBC's Thursday lineup was after Seinfeld ended and Friends and ER started declining: Most people watch it strictly out of habit, even though the quality of the shows is nowhere near what it once was.
How anyone can watch Caruso..... The spirit of PT Barnum is alive and well.

Liked the song. My only question is - Why would you get the Los Angeles Light Opera Chorus" and then have them sing in unison?
Is that a joke.

Isn't that what a chorus does?

Crazy Christians will be like one of those big payoffs on LOST. ... Maybe you'll see it at the end of this season ... maybe next ... maybe on the series finalé.

"Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana."

I wonder if the quote above the clock will change each episode.

Hey: S60 and LOST both have prominent clocks, Christians, bald guys, token blacks and hot chicks with long, brown hair. Hmm.
It will be the prime extra on the season 1 DVD.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

Y'know, you guys (and other guys in other places) have built this Crazy Christians skit up so much that if they ever do show it, it'll end up being a disappointment. Given the name, I'd be willing to wager it was just the name of an aborted skit they came up with on the fly, because for as much gold as there is to be mined in poking fun at hyperfundamentalists, it sounds from the title no better thought out than Peripheral Vision Man. A Noodle Incident for adults.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

Good catch, Lisa, and thanks Inky for the TiVo link.

We won't see "Crazy Christians." It's far better as something referenced and revered but never seen. As we've said, it won't live up to our expectations. Best scenario, they throw it in as an extra on the first-season DVD.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

When in doubt, Sorkin always goes to the musical theater.

A very good episode.

I'm not sure if this fact was brought up before or not, but I'm a little confused as to the time frame of the mythical shows. Does this show start at 11:30 p.m. Pacific Time? I guess I just assumed it was a Friday night, 7 p.m.-type thing except there were two references to it starting at 11:30 p.m. If that's the case, then why would people stay up until 2:30 on the east coast to watch TV?

I thought that, too, but then either Whitford or Perry immediately mentioned that it was 8 and a half-hour from showtime. Not sure if that was an editing mistake or not.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

And, I agree, we probably will not see "Crazy Christians," which is a good thing because we'd probably be disappointed. No 4-minute sketch can be that funny.

In the first episode when we were introduced to Amanda Peet and Steven Weber, she was at the dinner party welcoming her to the network. So I would imagine that was happening in the 8 o'clock hour in LA and not at 11:30 p.m.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

I really liked this episode, but I thought the song could have been a lot funnier. Especially the lyrics. They were clever, but not funny, I guess is how I'd put it. I chuckled, but that's it.

To be honest, Conan O'Brien's Music Man riff, "Trouble, With a Capitol T" was much funnier at the Emmys, as long as we're comparing faux musicals bemoaning the state of network television.

Peet bugged me a lot less in this one.

Lastly, let me add this: I really like male friendships on television. I don't know why, but they get to me much more so that phony romantic relationships. My favorite scenes in ER were when Mark and Doug would sit and play basketball. The best part of Friends was Joey and Chandler's friendship. I love when Jimmy and Bunk go drinking by the train tracks on The Wire. I loved it when Leo and Jeb would sit and talk about the old days, or Sam and Josh would bullshirt about women on the WW. So, in that respect, I like what Danny and Matt have going on this show. It's the kind of thing Sorkin does well.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

First of all Dog, E-Ring was a pretty miserable show in my opinion.

I'm assuming that most of the skits which they'll reference on this show will be like the fake movies referenced in Entourage. You won't see more than a brief glimpses of them.
