Source: Oklahoma City team name to be Thunder

Why not just play off the Sonic name and the Sooners and call themselves the BOOMERS!

But I guess McVeigh kind of knocked that one off the list.

Good call there, you're probably right.

I know the USBL team in Enid goes by the Storm, so rather than with a tornado reference, they went with Thunder. Eh. The OKC Outlaws would have been great.

I'm just glad they didn't go with the Outlaws for the XFL part II.

There once was the Oklahoma Outlaws of the USFL. Good reason to stay away from that nickname, although Doug Williams did rock.

We need a "source" to "reveal" the forking nickname of the Oklahoma City NBA team?

And we wonder what's wrong with our business.

Or combine names, call em the soonersonics.

that's actually not too bad.

I actually really like it.
Granted, that stupid horse trailer doesn't do too well on hard wood. Watching the horse fall and break a leg would be good business for the horsemeat processing plants just down the road in Ft. Worth, though.

The Oklahoma City Dust Bowls.

The interesting thing about OKC, of course, is that its coolest bar district is Bricktown. If the Thunder starts tossing up bad 3-pointers, it could give new meaning to the nickname.

Or they'll go with Garth Brooks' "Thunder Rolls."

Since he's an Okie, he might even do new lyrics specifically for the team. After all, a song about spousal abuse doesn't have much of an Arena Rock feel to it.
