I keep total old man hours. I'm up at 4 a.m., lunch as early as 11, dinner as early as 5 or so. Lights rarely on past 9:45.

When I let my alarm time slip to anyone, they seriously freak the fork out. I'd have an easier time justifying a crack habit.

I'm in the same vein as you. Monday-Friday, I'm up at 4:45, go do PT from 6-7, go home to get cleaned up, work from 8:30-4:30 or so, head home. Usually I'm in bed by 10. Sleeping in for me on the weekends is like 7 or 8 a.m.

I get up at 4 and hit the treadmill immediately. Otherwise, I won' t be able to. One of those days (plus later on Saturday), I include a 5:30 visit to the YMCA weight room. My dad is a physical wreck, and so I'm pretty obsessed with getting my workout in every day, because I've seen the alternative.

I know the feeling. I used to be close to 290 pounds, dropped to as low as 185-ish and am currently at 205. Even if I didn't have to work out because of being in the Army, there's no way I'd ever go back to the way I was.

I'm in this boat, too. I get up at 4:30 am every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. From 4:30 until 5, I dress, empty the dishwasher, feed the dog, bring in the newspapers and brew tea, then I work out between 5 and 6. I started doing it when the kids were little and I needed to find a time when I could focus on myself for an hour and the only time available was "while they're asleep." I've been doing this for more than 20 years at this point and I keep doing it even though the kids are grown.

No big deal. These days I have to get up to pee, anyway.

Part of the reason I started getting up at 5 a.m. was so I'd have plenty of time to take the dogs on long walks without too many people around. Plus, it's exercise for me.

Here I sit weighing 145 pounds, but the two mutts are still overweight (one pretty egregiously, too). I must be doing it wrong.

that made me laugh just because of your screen name.

You early morning people scare me a little! I am such a night owl, that I am OK with getting that alone time in the middle of the night. If I had my way, I would be going to sleep as you all wake up.

My 8-5 job doesn't allow me that luxury anymore, so I literally have to force myself to go to bed every single night Sunday - Thursday. I will routinely stay up until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights "just because I can."

shirt, I'm still awake at 1 most nights even though my alarm's set somewhere between 4:45 and 6 a.m. :(

When I was working nights, I would start reading a book after dark on a day off and, if it was good, keep reading until I finished it, which typically was about dawn. That was some real good Alone Time when I needed it. Quiet and uninterrupted.

Only 3 a.m.? Meh. I'm lucky if I can make myself get to sleep before 5 a.m. on the weekend.
