The Daily Stripes Thread

"But you can't leave; all the plants are gonna die."

I always liked to say that to a co-worker whenever he/she was about to take a day off or go on vacation.

When John Candy was getting ready to mud wrestle two women, the other guy eggs him on: "YOU CAN DO IT!!"
I've been known to say that on the golf course when one of the guys in my group is trying to go 250 yards over water to reach a green.

I saw a thing the other day that said Stripes was supposed to a Cheech & Chong movie. It changed right before filming. Judge Reinhold said Murray and Ramis worked the script on the fly between scenes. A lot of the other actors reactions were genuine because they didn't know what was happening.

I'll always be amazed how many classic films (used loosely of course) have such chaotic and random origin stories. Last minute director or lead replacements that make it hard to envision how the initial plan would have turned out. And then you have movies that have been locked in and crafted over years and they end up as total duds.
Think of Jaws and the malfunctioning shark, how Spielberg went "POV" on some of the early attacks.
