The Oregonian has a new sports columnist

I believe this is his maiden effort for The O. I think it's a strong debut.

I have no knowledge of his motives, but I wouldn't read too much into any "abandoning ship" narrative with his move from The Athletic. If he was happy growing up in or near Tillamook, Oregon, I think the chance to return to the 503 in a prestigious position such as this explains almost everything about his move, in my opinion.

Very good column. I don't know Bill, even though we were on the OCR staff together for a couple of years. I was always in the office, he wasn't. I only needed to talk to the writers when there were problems, and there usually weren't any with his stories. I appreciate this column, despite him knocking my school.
