The TV thread

We just watched "Dark Winds" on Netflix. Outstanding, and very respectful and informative on Navajo culture. Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn is great, just as he was on "Longmire" and in season II of "Fargo."

I also started watching "Virgin River," mainly because of Tim Matheson. It's sort of like a highly-polished Hallmark movie/series but I'm enjoying it so far.

My wife is a fan of that show - It's like the most vanilla ice cream drama to me ever. That show seems like it costs about $100 to make, between the low wattage of the cast and long dialogue scenes. There's nothing actively bad about it, but it's one of the few shows that's literally put me to sleep. The one thing I like are some of the "subtle" camera tricks - Like at one point, there is a rockslide that some people get injured in, and then there is a hard cut to the next scene of people playing Jenga.

I wonder if the trailer implies a shift in tone for the series.

Really, really looking forward to this. The first season is the best thing in Star Wars TV, along with the first two seasons of Mando.

I've read that every three episodes will cover one year, right up to the Rogue One timeline.

I liked the female lead when she was on Walking Dead.

Finally finished off The Crown. I don't know how accurate the show was, but I will say I felt it was a very engrossing family drama, royals or no royals. And I loved the political stuff, learning about the various "Royal" jobs, Keeper of the Sands? The Swans? The Royal piper? and the parts of the story that might not have been "front page" but were fascinating. The British Women's Institute? I do kind of wonder if Prince Charles approached the producers after the show began, because he seemed to become less of a "twit" as the show went on. The casting choices seemed to be great all the way through.

What is this about? It sounds like the vibe I got when I saw a commercial for Watson. I may check that out only because it is set in Pittsburgh. (I caught a glimpse of the Clemente Bridge in the commercial.)

Have you started Watson? want another opinion. It feels like a cheap knockoff of House and a cheap knockoff of Sherlock Holmes which feels hard to pull off. The latter (of the books) inspired the former. I want it to be more than it is.

I never did start watching it. I've got way too many shows going right now.
