Tone Loc should get at least a mention.

Damn, I totally killed this thread.

It's probably little consolation to you but I thought that was a great post, as well as the first time Tone Loc has ever been mentioned in an online forum.

That Slick is no joke, but you can get killed walking your doggie.
I ain't your cuz, you rap mother****er! Not to threadjack, but the best line from that movie was "She's got a GREAT ASS AND YOUR HEAD IS ALL THE WAY UP IT!"

Loved Living Colour on the Steel Wheels Tour. Saw them and the Stones at Birmingham's Legion Field with my old man. Great show.

"Mean Streets" was my favorite Diamond Dave-Van Halen tune. As for Van Hagar, "Best of Both Worlds" was the Rolls Royce.

A perfect example of the bombast and synth of the tail end of the arena rock era.

Bombast? That's a bad attitude and a twisted view (bad, bad attitude).....

Count me in on Living Color. 89 in St Louis, opening for Stones. They were incredible.

Steel Wheels tour. Last tour with Wyman?

I was working late at the station and the business manager comes over and asks if I want two tickets to the concert. I call my wife and she meets me down at the Metrodome. We get to our seats just as Living Colour was taking the stage.

I like more of Sammy's songs with Van Halen.

I like Roth's songs more. Panama and Running With the Devil are amazing.

As I once said, he decided to molest 13-year-old girls full-time.

How did he not end up in jail?

Another must-watch when on.

My two favorite Van Halen albums are the end of the old era (1984) and start of the second era (5150) - so that is a wash.

I'd give the edge to David Lee Roth era of Van Halen, though, because Van Halen and Van Halen II and Diver Down were all better than OU812 and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.

But here is a better question - where does Van Halen rank among all-time AMERICAN rock bands?

I think we had a thread on this before (which I might have started), and people kept trying to cram Bruce Springsteen & the E. Street Band in.

Considering only true BANDS (and not a solo performer who tours/toured with a bunch of other folks, such as Springsteen, Hendrix or Petty), I'd say it's a pretty short list ahead of VH.

Metallica, Aerosmith, CCR, maybe Nirvana ... that's about it.
