Worked with a guy -- lets call him "Billy Jones" -- who said he grew up on the same block as Weird Al in Norwalk or Downey, one of those places. He said his older brother was good friends with Al. So we called our co-worker Weird Billy Jones.

Wish I had seen this thread last week to tune in. Saw Weird Al maybe 15 years ago at Mohegan Sun Arena. He was into it, man. Took no breaks, played for more than two hours. It was great. Not ashamed to say I have most of his albums on CD or cassette tape.
He made up such a large part of my childhood in the 80s. My older brother and I would listen to the Dr. Demento show every Sunday night on our bedroom clock radio. Had a cassette tape of one show from long ago but I still remembered the order of the Funny Five at the end - Weird Al took up two of the five spots with "I Lost on Jeopardy" and "Eat It." (Back in November, I found the entire show on .mp3, which was broadcast April 15, 1984).
The video to "White and Nerdy" will forever be my favorite. Genius.

My first CD was "Bad Hair Day," which I got for graduating middle school in 1996. Went on to buy all the main release albums (as well as the UHF soundtrack and the Food Album).
Finally got to see him in concert during his 2019 Strings Attached Tour (when his band was backed by a local orchestra) at Chastain Park in Atlanta.
One of my favorite things is how Lin-Manuel Miranda, one of the biggest figures in all of entertainment and creator of one of Broadway's greatest productions, is such an unabashed Weird Al fanboy, and he doesn't care who knows it. Loved the video he and Jimmy Fallon did of them listening to the "Hamilton Polka" for the first time and totally geeking out.

Yep, it became WFZZ-FM (Fuse 104.3) and flipped to alternative rock on Tuesday. Launched it with "What's My Age Again" by Blink-182.
