Youth Sports (i.e. the thing we all loved which parents have now ruined)

Glad someone is taking action against the ridiculousness that is modern youth sports. Travel ball, AAU, all the other money-grubbing grifters who monetize kids playing around, all of them need to go away.

Saw some group of three-year-olds getting coached up at a park the other day man that's sad to me where is the spontaneity in life if you can't get it when you're three?

How else are they going to get ready for the 4U World Series (featuring teams from three counties in the surrounding area) that gives championship rings to the winning team!?!

The article indicated that the purpose of the project is to get more kids playing after a decline in participation, which may result in fewer fans later. The project as described isn't a reaction to travel teams and overcoaching.

Yes, but I think part of it is to get more kids just playing to play, like the old YMCA days. I know it will be hard to un-brainwash the parents who think travel ball is the key to Junior's college scholarship hopes.
