Christmas 2021 - Omicron version

Or if not a pantry, then maybe a local soup kitchen. They can probably put it to more immediate use.
Expert local opinion tells me that you're on the right track. The many groups that serve Christmas meals to those without can use the ham. Our local food pantry might be able to give us a referral. We'll call tomorrow morning.

I was looking for Reese's Christmas trees at a grocery store, and what do I see peeking just around the corner of the aisle?....Yeah - Easter candy ready to jump. Cadbury eggs? really? Easter isn't until April 17th or those keeping track of such things. About as late as it can be.

I would shop at that store. Just like me, it too has given up on Valentine's Day.

Nothing says holiday fun like a call to your ex-wife. I don't know how God packed so much unmerited self-assurance into one person.

If you are truly a southerner, you know the difference between country ham and city ham.
My brother-in-law works for a pork company.
There is an old black gentleman well into his 90s who works for the company and has been specializing is curing country hams for more than 80 years. If you can buy one of his hams, which you can't, they sell for $200+ each year at Christmas.
Bro-in-law gets a super discount, but holy mother of goodness, they are worth every penny.

I thought I came from the only patch of dirt where people called it "city ham." People look at me weird when I say it here (although they know the difference between it and country ham.)

The best ham is home cured after you butcher the hog. Grandma cut off slices and fried it every morning for breakfast.

There are only 2 places in this world to get good ham:
Either side of a hog's ass.

We are getting ham from a smokehouse near the girlfriend's brother. Their turkeys are good, and the ham we got there last year was excellent.
