For two reasons. The collective's communication snafus with the administration and the university's cries of poverty and inability to compete while saddled with ACC membership are both fodder. Also FSU has never been a destination job, not least when Hamilton himself took it. And they're going to have the devil's own time convincing recruits their collective is good for the money it promises.
These are different times. They're not necessarily going to wait for a college coach's team to finish its season. And they want NBA people because they want experience with handling pros. That's what these student-athletes are.
That was my thought. Seems like they're so desperate to run off players and steal replacements that they'll settle for swift resolution above long term.So you end up hiring someone who won't be missed from a borderline playoff team. Weird.
But better for him, it gets him away from the flustercluck that is the Kings.Pretty short resume for a job like this. Given Hamilton's coaching tree, which includes Bill Self, Juwan Howard and Andy Enfield, hard to believe there wasn't someone with some head coaching experience interested.
N.C. State taking no chances on Keatts pulling another miracle out of his ass.
NC State fires Keatts a year after Final Four run

So many issues here.
First off, if the NCSU women beat Duke at the ACC Tournament final on Sunday, Keatts is still the story. Not the women. Could have waited another 24 hours and given the women – who have a sustained record of success – their chance to be the real headline for at least a while. Whoops.
How many didn't want NCSU's men to run to the ACC Tournament title, followed by run to the Final Four? Did the big boosters have the money ready to send him on his way a year ago?
The media has had a field day. One former NCSU beat writer who went to school there believes this has been all about Boo Corrigan, who was hired as AD prior to the pandemic, wanting to make a big-time hire. Football coach Dave Doeren, women's basketball coach Wes Moore and baseball coach Elliott Avent are entrenched and were there prior to Corrigan's arrival.
Another interesting nugget: In Keatts' farewell message to NCSU on Twitter, he thanked everyone else, including Debbie Yow. Nothing about Corrigan.

Now, if Corrigan goes with Will Wade – who was not only investigated by the NCAA, but also by the FBI – I will not be happy at all. Wade has enough baggage to fill the ESA.
Go for Ryan Odom at VCU, or try to convince Justin Gainey – look up where he played his college ball – that the fan base has matured since treating Herb Sendek like crap. Archie Miller probably won't touch it because he played under Sendek during the latter part of his run in Raleigh, so he saw first-hand how poorly his coach was treated.
Pretty short - and wrong - take.
Loucks is a good idea. Sustaining success at Tallahassee won't be easy. What Hamilton did there was remarkable. Why not hire someone who played for Hamilton, who grew up a fan of the school who has learned the ropes? Make sure the door for Hamilton stays open, and hire someone who actually wants to be there.
Andy Enfield just left USC to take the SMU job because he wanted to be in the ACC, so he's not leaving after one season. Not going there with either Bill Self or Juwan Howard, neither of whom are either serious or realistic candidates given the overall situation.
So Loucks not a big name. And get out of here with the "short resume."
