I'm sure they'll be thrilled with his point of view in Berkeley.

Um, Rolovich grew up not far from Berkeley in Marin County, which is about 80 percent Democratic. He also went to college at City College of San Francisco. He is zany, and stuck by his convictions knowing he'd lose $3 million per season.

But this had the look of a loss from the get-go based on religious beliefs, considering then-AD Pat Chun had children in Catholic school and the pope also encouraged people to get vaccinated.

Correct. He claimed religious faith, but his religious tenets are Trumpist bullship. No reputable flavor of Christianity of any other widely practiced religion encouraged people to reject vaccinations. What Would Jesus Do? I doubt he'd say "I'm gonna resist the tyranny of the state and refuse a simple, safe procedure that protects my fellow humans." But Saint Nick of the Unvaccinated would have us believe that his is the righteous path and that his leadership is the model that players should follow.

What was interesting is about 4 or 5 of his ashistants also refused to get vaccinated and lost their jobs. Jake deckert didn't take the bait and was elevated to head coach until he bolted for Wake Forest last month.
Not sure how much Cal will pay Rolovich but it won't be $3 million per season.

P.T. Barnum said, "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Penn State should do what it takes to keep Allen, especially because Franklin is the guy who will bail for a better job if one becomes available. Dabo ain't going nowhere.

Jimbo Franklin's last contract, which I want to say was signed in 2021, was for 10 years at around $8 million, all guaranteed. By my calculations, he has about seven more years on it. No one is paying $56 million to buyout the contract of someone who almost wins things.

I could see him considering an NFL job. Matt Rhule got hired by someone, ffs. Given where he sits in the college pecking order and the unlikelihood that Penn State ever becomes a top-5 program, he might want to get out while the getting's good.

Bob Nielson retires from South Dakota. Got them to 11-3 and then hung it up.
