‘Why 60 Minutes aired photos of lynchings’

Just speculation, of course, but I have little doubt that a significant number of Americans would enthusiastically support the return of mob lynchings of accused/convicted criminals. Social media, in particular, has revealed an ugly lack of empathy for anyone who ever screwed up.

A long history of this kind of violence against a specific group of Americans just might entitle that group of Americans to their own definition of the phrase.

Especially if that allows another specific group of Americans — ponderous white dullards of privilege — to preen in their own righteousness.
