2013 MLB Regular Season running thread

That's freakin' insane. I can't recall ever seeing that at the major league level.

Who goofed? I've got to know.

Think of every ridiculous way to lose a game and the Royals have done it during the past 13 years. The ol' bat-out-of-order trick happened during the Trey Hillman era, IIRC

Buddy Bell, in 2005, according to the link above.

Ricky Nolasco traded to the Dodgers.

Great move, except Ricky Nolasco sucks.

Anyone is gonna look like shirt playing for the Marlins.

Even counting his outstanding 2008 season, his career ERA-plus is 94, which means he's a slightly below-league-average pitcher fo his career. This year, by far his best since '08, he's only at 102.

Miracle comeback for the Angels last night vs. Red Sox.
Sox up, 7-3, in the ninth, two outs, one on. Shuck singles, Trout HBP, Pujols 2-run single, Hamilton one-run single. Kendrick hits a game-ending bouncer to third. Snyder throws a balloon over Pedroia's head, pinch-runner Cowgill comes in with the tying run.
Bottom of the 11th, Hawpe singles, Hamilton two-run shot into the right-field seats.
A sign of the times: This game reached the 4-hour mark in the ninth inning. Sigh ...

Nolasco will dazzle once or twice each season. Up and down otherwise.

I'm probably the only one here who feels this way, but it's time for MLB to retire the Stars and Stripes caps.

I've disliked them from the beginning. On Memorial Day, I got into a Twitter cold war with a wounded vet over them. That was pleasant.

Agree with Paul Lukas' belief that it's an inappropriate use of the flag (and just a plain ol' mismatch for teams like the Rockies, D'Backs and A's).

Looks like a little Orioles Magic! (TM) at the ballot box.

St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak has ordered a small cross etched in the pitching mound be removed. The grounds crew at Busch Stadium had taken to carving the symbol along with either an Ichthys or a "6″ into the mound before home games. According to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the "6″ was to honor the late Cardinals great Stan Musial after his death in January, but one fan who objected to the display said it looked like the Christian fish symbol.

And if you're a Facebooker, there's a flame war raging over this right now on the "STL Cardinal Baseball" page.
