2023 running NBA playoffs thread

It's a matter of perspective. For two healthy years, Bill Walton might've been the greatest player ever. He was IMO the greatest college player ever. But those years were all he had, so he's not on the top 20. Jokic has had three years of being the best player in the league, supplanting LeBron. That IMO is a fair case to make for being in the top 20. Back-to-back MVPs followed by a title year. It's not a weak case.

Alcindor was the greatest college player ever.

Nine of the 10 players on Jokic's closest comparables list on B-R.com are in the Hall of Fame, which is certainly a good endorsement. The 10th is Dwight Howard, who's clearly a HoF player, but not a Top 20 player. I think that's probably where Jokic is right now, and he needs to string together a couple more elite seasons to be Top 20 ever. (No shame in that, obviously, it's just that the standard is really damn high.)

Lots of fun at the Nuggets celebration. Had a prime position as part of the media herding. And the rain stayed away.

Jokic's comment was great. And seemed sincere, especially after all the media attention his press conference comment got.

Didn't try to make it down there, but looked like a good time. Watched it all on TV. Been a fun week.

It was pretty insane. I had to be here by 7 a.m. so it was an easy drive in. But there were A LOT of people here.

Pretty good Aldridge story in The Athletic today comparing Jokic to Duncan. I get the story through the NYT sub.
