Alex Trebek/Jeopardy Tribute Thread

It's so obvious now he was meant to take over that it's a little boggling they stuck with the dual host thing as long as they did. Maybe that was because of contract provisions?

It may have taken the pressure off everyone a bit. Instead of replacing "that guy," after a while the winner would be replacing "those guys (and gal)."

I was watching last night and I realized how perfect Ken is for that job. He wasn't a natural, but got on his feet pretty quickly. And he wasn't truly the guy following the guy, so that helped.

I've said this since Ken has started. I think he's better than Alex. He truly seems to enjoy what he's doing, he enjoys the history of the show, and his interactions with the contestants are way less awkward than Alex's. Ken is really good.

Alex never had the complete contempt for the contestants Sajak did (esp. towards the end of his run). Ken may be better than Alex because he is more relatable to contestants (having been one of them) and has greater authority over the game. Alex's authority came from his title and position, whereas Ken's comes from being the best to ever play.

Alex cosplayed as a genius, whereas Ken is the real thing. Not saying Alex was a dumbass, but he was in the role long enough for the show to morph around him and his strengths.

Wow, we're slagging on Trebek now? Trebek made the show what it is today. Full forking stop.

Ken is a nice guy and Alex could be a bit of a deck. I've said for many years that he was the natural successor. Both are great at their jobs, but Ken needs to work on giving too much away when a contestant barely misses.

We watch the show nightly and now that Trebek reruns are more easily accessible, those as well.

My six-year-old son asked "Who is that? Where is Ken?"

Ken will be his Trebek.
