Didn't see this on the jobs board or mentioned here, apologies if I missed, but figured it makes more sense on the general journalism topics board.

Sports Writer - Careers at Apple

The base pay range for this role is between $104,000.00 and $202,600.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

At least the job description isn't vague...

We're looking for a dynamic, highly organized writer to craft essential messaging about sports. This person's work will impact editorial, marketing, live game coverage, and more. The role demands being able to articulate a high-level vision and advocate for it, while also diving into the details. The top-notch writer and skilled editor in this role will collaborate across a wide variety of teams to ensure that a creative vision is realized, playing a critical role in evolving our editorial voice and elevating the sports fan experience around the planet.

I mean, I guess the good thing is you know they'll be around longer than The Messenger. On the other hand, it also seems like one of those things where in 18 months everyone's like, yeah, that was never going to work as 15 people post on Twitter how they're now looking for new gigs after Apple shut down their essential messaging beat.

ashuming you have to live in or around L.A. County, so $100K will get you a decent studio apartment I guess.

"to craft essential messaging"

This makes me want to throw up. Egads.
