All the threads related to Joe Paterno's "death," and then, his actual death, were really great.

Checking all of them out could take several days to read, but the "Rushing to be Wrong," RIP Joe Paterno," and the "Posnanski and the Paterno Book" he planned to write were epic, interesting threads from 2012.

I had entirely too much fun on those threads.

Really? Why?

Because back then the server didn't have the capacity and SJ was a busier place. Old threads were deleted until server capacity greatly improved. A lot of classic threads went down the memory hole because of this.

There also was a fun discussion of chain restaurants sparked by a North Dakota newspaper columnist praising the arrival of an Olive Garden in her town. Maybe it's the same thread Huggy is talking about — I'll have to check later.
