Carolyn Bryant Donham dies

There was a pashage in Roy Blount's book about the Steelers that takes place in some southern fried bigotown. A team official is talking with a local and the local leaves and Blount remarks, "He seems like a nice person." The team official replies, "Yep, sure is. And you know, it was his brother killed Emmett Till."

I told this to my teaching partner who brought up Carolyn Bryant died:

For any who have not seen the Fox/Netflix show Lucifer, it's about the devil abandoning hell to live in Los Angeles and solve crimes. The imagining of hell in the show is a place where you are haunted by your deepest regret. Damned to relive it for all of eternity.

I want to imagine Bryant is seeing Emmitt Till's face and experience his death on a loop for eternity. To feel his pain and be overcome by Mamie's anguish.

That is all.

She didn't regret it.
