College football week 15 thread: The Low Sparky of High Heeled Boys

Agree with that sentiment, Dixie, but the flag-planting on your rival's logo at midfield isn't about celebrating in the least. It's about taunting and provoking and escalating every step of the way. If it's OK to ban the finger guns and throat slash and horns down and getting in someone's face after a touchdown or a big sack, etc., then it's OK to ban the flag-planting.

Or let ALL of it go. And after the game, if a player wants to pull their deck out and stick it in the face of the losing quarterback as he's trying to walk off the field, then that's OK. Because if you don't want the guy's deck to be rubbed in your face, then beat them on the field.

I still go back to the point where SOMEONE has to be the adult in the room and decide it's OK to not be an asshole. It's been the expectation (obviously not always followed) for how many decades, for long before flags were being planted. It can be again.

Bottom line: if there is flag-planting, there is going to be a fight every single time. Without fail.

If you're not OK with the fight, ban flag-planting.

The "just win the game" argument is a non-starter.

This is absurd. I have yet to see a flag plant on the 50 that lands someone on the sex offender registry.

A long time ago, it was fashionable to say football taught valuable life lessons, and winning with grace is one that is desperately needed. But another lesson that needs to be learned is not to get baited into a violent response when you are insulted.

I honestly had no idea all these NIL mercenaries really gave a shirt if their team won or lost.

Of course it's absurd. Also absurd is the notion that it's OK to be an asshole and do something for the pure intention of starting a physical fight, and then hide behind "then don't lose the game!" as a defense.

Hawaii Bowl is set: San Jose State returns to play USF Christmas Eve.

Original post has been corrected to show that Jacksonville State will host the C-USA championship. In related news, nobody noticed or cared that they are hosting the game.

I doubt it is great for it. But if you had tried it on the first gen fields like The Vet, the flagpole would have snapped like a twig.
