College Football Week Zero Thread: Give Ireland Back to the Irish

Right. But I wonder if DSU isn't losing money on this trip. I doubt Hawaii pays that much more than the average G5 program looking for a rent-a-victim game.
Just a guess but I think Delaware State is trying to make the trip on the advance money. The idea is everyone and the budget does not take a hit and risk a political outcry about the football team going to the beach.

Whatever the Hawaiian equivalent of Motel 6 is, I figure the Hornets are staying there.

While Saban, at the time, tamped down speculation that their contrasting styles were creating friction, the book offers insight into what could be a caustic relationship.

One such moment came when Kiffin called Sexton warning him that an angry Saban was about to call. Why? The offensive coordinator told the head coach "he didn't know what he was talking about" in a meeting.

True to form, Saban's less-than-cheerful call came within minutes.

"That son of a bench," Saban said to his agent, according to the book. "I'm going to fire you, Jimmy, for ever talking me into hiring that narcissistic brick."

Miami (Ohio) head coach Chuck Martin wins today's award for "Most innocuous interview question gone horribly sideways."

I remember a few neautral site games, usually in East Rutherford or Anaheim or Tampa or something and it was always confusing when the season actually started.
Everything about college football (and college sports in general) is confusing these days.

Week 0 is such because you are not allowed to play an FBS game baring special circumstances (most commonly an overseas game or playing at Hawaii sometime during the season). Thus the official opening weekend for all is deemed Week 1.
You should cover up your special circumstance.

My take of the day.

College football is now what it always actually was and has been, but we tried to convince ourselves was about something more. School and state pride, developing young men, the pageantry etc. The anxiety comes from actually admitting it.

Colorado Football Coach Went to Saudi Arabia to Get NIL Funding from LIV Golf Owners: Report
This is the least excited I've been for college football that I can remember and very little of it has to do with Saban retiring.
