Snap out of it, man.

I'd rather read about the World Cup.
I'll read a quirky piece or two in the NYT, but I don't wake up in the morning seeking the latest coverage. And I'm not sure I'll watch any live coverage the next two weeks, I don't get a lot of TV time and when I do I want to go straight to the Netflix queue or something I know I want to watch. The days of locking on NBC and suffering through all the breaks and Heartwarming Personal Stories to get to the one night's marquee 20 minutes of actual sports are over for me.
I read Christine Brennan's columns.
Other than that? Nope.
That's one area where I think things have greatly improved, is NBC's use of of its cable channels to provide wall to wall coverage. The prime time show is as you described, but you can flip over to another channel almost any time of day and find something interesting without that stuff. If you're at home working or something during the day, it's wonderful background noise and just a straightforward sports broadcast.
I imagine someone does, and Lord knows I used to more, but I'll be very honest: No, not that much anymore. Not at all so far. And I've watched stuff on TV. I'm just not sure I give a shirt what any writer, who doesn't know any more about the sport than I do. thinks about what I saw. And that's awful, but it's where I'm at.
Anyone else?
The rest is just a blizzard of sports that come and go.
