Five bands you would hear in heck

Think about a mind that can create Timothy and the Pina Colada song.

I think Rupert Holmes is some kind of evil genius.

Rupert Holmes writes books:

Jon Karp at Twelve has acquired North American rights to a new book by Tony and Edgar Award-- winner Rupert Holmes, titled The McMasters Guide to Homicide: Murder Your Employer. Heather Schroder at ICM made the sale. The novel will describe the inner workings of the McMasters Academy, the world's leading institution devoted to the study and teaching of homicide. Revealing the trials of its faculty and the story of one of its most notorious students, the book will help readers become more proficient in the homicidal arts. Tentative pub date is 2009.

You can pick any five of the Uber-American country singers — Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith, etc. — and that's my heck playlist.

Casting the net a bit wider than my earlier post ...

-- Any country music produced by Nashville's establishment from 1985 or so to the present, but especially since the late 90s.
-- Most rap from about 2000 or so onward.
-- Dave Matthews Band
-- Overplayed classic rock bullshirt like Boston, the Eagles, Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon (both their "rock" era and their "Look! We grew vaginas! ballad era"), etc.

and ...

-- Rush.

Damn. Some of you guys are brutal. There's some good stuff on here.

Mine:
Whitney Houston
Culture Clash
Eurythmics
Romeo Void
Enimem

See, part of that doesn't strike me as being in the spirit of the original post (Culture Clash, Romeo Void). It's supposed to be bands that are semi-credible only.

The thread title says "Five bands you would hear in heck." It makes no specifics toward who is credible or not.

That said, I can't believe I didn't add Mariah Scarey.

The Fairfax (Va.) High School marching band, circa 1993, which played a halftime show based on Dante's Inferno. I am not making that up.
