The Five Songs You Never-Ever Wanna Hear Again

"Midnight Blue" was far superior to anything in Foreigner's catalogue.

Personally, I can do without her.
I used to like her early stuff,
"Borderline"...
but once she got off with that
"Papa, Don't Preach" phase, I tuned out.

Madonna singing with Fleetwood Mac would have been interesting.

Foreigner is one of those '80s bands I don't really wanna hear anymore.

Except for "Urgent" and one other song. I'll listen to "Urgent" any time.
I've always thought it's their best song, and it holds up strong over time.

And my other favorite Foreigner song is this one.
A really gorgeous song. And I'll listen to it any time, too.

Easily their best song. How the great Junior Walker ended up with them is beyond me but it's still a terrific song.

Madonna had so much good music.

Live to Tell, great.

Take a Bow, great.

Papa Don't Preach, great, as is the movie of a video.

Let's not talk ship about Madonna ... at least before she went off the rails in the '90s.

Berry demanding his money in suitcases of cash was apparently virtually universal knowledge on the rock band circuit. You'd think word about that would have gotten around pretty quick and somebody would have started knocking over Chuck for his suitcases of cash after gigs.
There's probably a hilarious buddy movie/road movie/gangster movie in that whole story.

That habit was the result of Chuck getting shorted or forked out of his money once too many times. He was a jackash, but he had his reasons.

Back in the late '80s, Austin radio station B-93 played a killer rotation each Friday at 5 p.m. I lived far enough away that I could sometimes pick it up in my car if I drove toward Austin a few miles, and the show always started with "Working for the Weekend," so while it's not the greatest song ever, it brings back memories of when radio was worth listening to.

There was a DJ here in the 90's who had the Friday night shift. Every Friday at 7 he'd sign on by playing "Party Town" by Glen Frey. I never tired of it. Such a good rocker, excellent lyrics.

Sure, I know why he did it, but you'd think word would get around the sleazy-underbelly underworld of small club rock promotion, "Hey, 5-10 minutes after every show, Chuck Berry leaves the nightclub with a briefcase with several thousand dollars in cash."

According to most accounts Berry traveled alone, but I've read a few stories about him traveling with "one or two" badash-bodyguard looking types, and supposedly Chuck carried a gun or two himself but still you'd think that would be an inviting target for a half dozen or so young thugs looking for an easy payday.
