Friday Night Heights: The college gymnastics thread

You're just showing off your thread hed chops. Good one.
Not in this case. Stolen directly from the SEC Network branding for their gymnastics coverage.

Thought about going with I'll Tumble 4 Ya, but figured that got into some unwelcome implications for a women's sport that already deals with objectification issues.

That would've been fine too. Objectification of women's gymnastics has been frankly baked into the cake since 1976.

The only reason I made as many 8 am freshman math clashes as I did was because I was in clash with a Bama gymnast. I would have needed a courage transplant just to say hello but at 17 just being in the same room was enough. WOW.

One of the leading gymnasts for Arkansas now is a year or two younger than my son and took gymnastics at the same time and same gym he did. I have a lot harder time getting the WOW button to activate these days.

9.875 is ship at LSU. She's a good enough gymnast, but I imagine she sells tickets more than anything.

That ship score tied her for third highest for LSU on floor. And her 9.825 on beam also tied for third on a night they had to drop a fall and count a 9.675.

She's not the star but she's not a boat anchor with a set of bolt-ons either. And the backlash is getting to be a little much.

I think she's great for the sport, truly. I was just saying LSU is a primo gymnastics school, that Dunn didn't even see the mat during the NCAAs last year says it all.

A sure way to know the NFL Playoffs are at hand: Live gymnastics over the air.

Oklahoma, LSU, Cal and Utah in a quad meet tomorrow afternoon on ABC, booked for the home arena of the Thunder.

Tired: Alabama's days as a football power are over.

Wired: Alabama's days as a gymnastics power are over.

Home from the most thorough ash-kicking I've seen in person. I never expected to beat Oklahoma, which threw down a 197.550 and arguably could have had another two- or three-tenths between picky judging on the uneven bars and slacking off a little on floor after the meet was already in hand.

But a week after posting a 196.100 stinker on the road, it took a near-perfect final floor routine to eke out 196.300. Before that Bama hadn't managed so much as a 9.9 all night. Absolutely brutal.

I really thought Auburn was going to use having Suni Lee on the roster to turbo-boost the program but it didn't last at all once she cycled out for the 2024 Games build up.
