Gambling Thread

Knowing how many times I go 3 of 4 on 4 team parlays, I should probably switch to 3 team parlays. Of course then I'd go 2 of 3.

Damn you, High Point.

My wife: watching 3 NCAA games at once, losing her mind.
Me: You know, John Hancock is a solid bet in Saturday's Louisiana Derby.

The six-team dream dies at the hands of one of my perennial bracket nemesises (nemesi? nemesis?), Tennessee. Won pretty comfortably, but couldn't ever fully put the hammer down and pull away from Wofford. Line was -18.5, they got to 18 with the back-ups coming in for the last minute, and then Wofford hit a 3 to end any chance of a glory-seeking scrubs jacking up a meaningless shot for the backdoor cover.
Still got some irons in the fire, though.

Just here to note that Texas is a 45.5-point favorite over William & Mary in the women's tournament.

I should just not say what I'm going to do here. :D Climbed back into the black by hitting a Drake +5 1/2-UCLA ML-UNCW +15 1/2 ('sup @Cosmo) parlay last night. Because I'm an idiot, here's what I'm riding this afternoon:

Robert Morris +21 1/2
Lipscomb +14 1/2
Memphis ML (counting on the Mountain West to keep Mountain Westing)

On Selection Sunday for the women, I saw that USC did not cheer its No. 1 seed. The coach went on camera to complain and said the committee that deals with the women's tournament has no idea what it's doing.
As a Trojan, it was sort of embarrassing to complain about a No. 1 seed, but I don't really follow them. Then I looked closer and got her point.
Briefly, the Trojans got the fourth No. 1 seed, when a legitimate case could be made for them to be either the first or second. Long-term, providing the teams win the games they are supposed to win, they are slotted to meet Connecticut in the Elite Eight. That would pit Watkins against Bueckers and eliminate one of the two best players in the country before the Final Four.

You would think the committee would learn from last year when they put Iowa and LSU into a regional final instead of the Final Four.

Taking RMU/Bama under 168.5. Just seems like way too many. Both teams need to get into the 80s, and that's not supposed to happen with a 22-point spread. And I just don't think Bama makes it into the 90s. Maybe 80s, and RMU doesn't make up for it.

Bullish on Maryland so I'll probably take the 10.5 there. Haven't been able to really watch due to work, so I'll be happy to grab a happy hour bevvy or five and enjoy this afternoon's/evening's action.
