What is the largest state by population without a federal prison?

I'm guessing Washington, which gives me a chance to reminisce about the time I accompanied members of the Wisconsin state high school tournament team from Baraboo to play inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution at Oxford. Needless to say, we had to go to the prison for the game.

Not a surprising outcome, men vs. boys. But it was a lot of fun going through the prison protocol to get into the prison gym (FCI-Oxford is medium-security, at least it was back then). The weight room may have been the busiest place in the whole joint.

The center on the inmates' team looked to be about 6-10 and 300 pounds. He couldn't jump, but he had an intimidation factor for sure. The rest of the team was pumped up. The outcome was never in doubt

That said, everybody had a good time. One of the more entertaining times I had at the News-Republic.
