Good Will Hunting

I like Depp, but he has done some stinkers -- Secret Window, Sleepy Hollow and Cry Baby are three examples I've seen. I'm sure some of his others I've missed were bad too.
He has been on a roll lately, though.

Blasphemy. "Cry Baby" was an awesome movie.

Sleepy Hollow was not a stinker, and Cry Baby was supposed to be bad. It was a John Waters movie, for Jeebus' sake.

1) So you're not going to argue with "Secret Window," which was absolutely awful?
2) Sleepy Hollow had a lot of potential, but it never delivered. To me, that's a stinker.
3) I don't buy the "supposed to be bad" excuse. It was a bad film, for whatever reason, so it goes on the list.

I always admired Depp's movie choices because he didn't give a damn whether the movie was going to make money or not. Like the movie or not, his performances were always stellar.

His insistence on doing Jack Sparrow like a drunk Keith Richards was brilliant.

On the opposite end, doing Wonka like Michael Jackson didn't work so well.

But his movies were always worth watching because there's something unique about each one.

I agree with every word of that. He may be the best actor of his generation and I love that he takes risks. Still, some of his films are bad.

Affleck could play the shark from Jaws.

Except the shark in Jaws didn't just wander around with his mouth half open all the time. He closed it sometimes. Affleck would never be able to pull that off.

No one can argue Secret Window. That is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Affleck can do anything Affleck wants.

Damon has been on one heck of a run... I read an article where he said getting "The Bourne Identity" saved his career.

His cameo in Eurotrip is a classic.

Affleck went for the money a few too many times and then became more famous for who he was dating then his work, which is never a good thing. He's definitely a good actor who should be working a lot more than he is...

Affleck can do anything Affleck wants.

Including Especially Jimmy Kimmel.

That's spot on. Wasn't there some kind of "spat" between he and Damon for a little while where Damon basically said this in public. I think it came up during one or the other's bj on In the Actor's Studio.

Affleck fell into the trap of playing the same character over and over: Dickhead who becomes somewhat nice guy. Jersey Girl in and of itself was OK, but Affleck was the same person he had played in several other roles recently: He was a schmuck at the beginning until he sees the light.

Changing Lanes: Schmuck who sees the light.
Surviving Christmas: Schmuk who sees the light.
Didn't see Paycheck, Gigli or the superhero crap.

For me, Affleck is one of those guys who's at his best when he's in a likeable role. Loved Chasing Amy. Loved Goodwill Hunting.

He went against type in Boiler Room. His part was hilarious.
