Happy New Year!

I am glad to see '23 in the rearview.
On Monday and Friday of the same week in March, I experienced the greatest high and suffered the greatest loss of my life.
Thankfully, I'm of the make that no matter what happens, the sun comes up in the morning, and it's a new day.

My grandfather died on Dec. 31, 1999 at 11:45 p.m., and my parents are teetotalers so NYE has never been a big thing for me.

Preached in church for a decent turnout on a holiday, though my sermon based a lot on Ricky Bobby (really) missed a lot of the old folks, especially since due to the fact that copyright violations will get our livestream nuked, I couldn't actually show the scene in question.

I got a frozen pizza, since a recent snow tire purchase made this a "we have food at home" weekend. I expected to be miserable but the Packers beat the Vikings' ashes so hard even I couldn't be down in the dumps.

Maybe I'm alone, but I do always love the New Year - until about a day or two in and there is another story about some catastrophe and you realize this is going to be like any other year....
